Hey All!!!
Some of you may be wondering what's been going with me. Sometimes I post a review and sometimes I post two. Well, before I was working a crazy job that took up way too much of my time while working on my Master's degree. That has recently changed: I have finished up all of my degree work and I am now only waiting on my diploma to make it official. Yay!! I have also left my previous place of employment and have since taken a position that allows me the flexibility and freedom to seriously focus and pursue my dreams of writing and photography. I am very excited about this opportunity, especially since I have recently met a fellow aspiring writer who is interested in becoming critique partners. (Yep, doing a happy dance!) I don't have everything organized like I would like for it to be, I do have the time to work on it and get it right.
My focus is split in three different directions: my current work in progress, getting back in the habit of photography and learning new software and finally this blog. I have a ginormous amount of love for reading and I like sharing the books that excite me with others. Yes, sometimes the excitement leads to a little disappointment when the book doesn't deliver or when I fail to connect or whatever the case may be. But I still enjoy this relationship of sharing with the world. I feel like I have been neglectful in the past and have not given this blog the attention that it's needed. But not anymore. Right now, I am currently playing catch up on some of the reading that I have fallen behind in. In case you haven't noticed, I have been playing around with my blog, thinking of different things that I want to change, things that I want to improve on. I have changed the look. Yes, I know -not that original, but until I can get it customized it will have to do. I am once again, changing my rating system. I wanted to do something that was more than just 5 stars or 3 stars etc... but I haven't been consistent with it, so it's kind of all over the place. I was looking at some old posts of books that I absolutely loved and saw that I used the same rating for that book that I did for books that were just okay. I don't think that it's a fair rating system, because I read everything (pretty much and yes that's changing too). So there are books that I dislike, books that I enjoy and books that I absolutely love and then there are those that fall somewhere in between. So I have to come up with a better rating system. Finally, the other thing that has been on my mind - the genre of books that I read. I generally avoid nonfiction but I sometimes forget and agree to read one for a review. My problem is that I like to read nonfiction for personal interest. In the end, they don't get a positive review. (Though there have been some that has surprised me.) I've also noticed that I have a lot of YA or YA-ish books. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE YA, I think that there are some amazingly awesome YA books out there that everyone should read. But I didn't want this blog to be just another YA blog. So while I am not going to stop reading YA, I definitely want to diversify it up some. Wow, I didn't know I had that much to say. LOL. I did want you to know that I hadn't abandoned this blog or forgotten about anyone. If I owe you a review, no worries- I have the time to catch up and catch up I will.
