From Goodreads: The realm of Altered Souls brings nothing but unrest, deceit, and pain forcing Triss to come face to face with heartbreak from her past.
Facing a betrayal like never before, Triss questions everything she thought she knew about her family, coven, and abilities.

With the help of Logan, she embarks on a journey enabling her to confront the dark side of magic and the person who controls it. Realizing Triss’s ancestors have been seduced for centuries by the dark side, Triss and Logan must ensure no more in their world fall victim to the realm of Altered Souls, even if that means ending the ones they love.
My Thoughts:

Oh my! I really love this series. I wasn't nervous about whether the second book would be good or not, I knew it would be. But I wasn't expecting this. I really enjoyed the story overall. The only complaint (which is evident with the rating) is the romance. In the first book, I overlooked it because it seemed to take a back burner to what was going on. In this one, it plays more of a role in the story so it was much more annoying. I am not sure what it is exactly, and that may not be fair, but it was a little awkward for me. Maybe it was the intensity, but it seemed like a little too much. But that is my only complaint.
The story picks up where Lonely Souls stops and continues on. I like the fact that we find things out as Triss finds them out. We are not left waiting for her to catch up.  There is much more at stake than finding her and Logan’s mom, but she is not sure what that is. Soon the mystery unfolds for her to discover that she plays a much bigger role. While old characters remain and we are introduced to new characters in this part of the journey, it is very much all about Triss.
There is a boldness that takes over Triss, despite her fear and doubts. There are major twists and shocking moments. Just when you think you have it all figured out, there is just one more thing. And I can’t wait for it- I am starting the next part of this tale shortly. If you haven’t started this series I recommend it , it’s so worth it.
